Showcasing the SoundShapers

With over 15,000 community-made levels in Sound Shapes whenever we're not hard at work making new content for you we're playing as many of your levels as we can. That means there are lots of "Holy cows!" "No ways!" and "How'd he do thats!" flying around the office. From amazing beats and cover tunes, to full narratives and even animated sequences (didn't see that one coming), the community is constantly blowing us away with it's creativity.
We've been posting our favourite levels to
Facebook and
Twitter under the hashtag #SSDailies and it's been a nice way to showcase some of the great work out there. But what about the artists behind the work? How do they create these levels, what tricks do they use, and what compels and inspires them to create? How interesting to dig into these questions, we thought.
Then we came across The Spawn Point blog's
feature on Daftbomb, a Sound Shapes community member whose design sense, aesthetic eye, and creative uses of the editor make him one of our favourites. We loved the idea of profiling community members and approached The Spawn Point join forces and keep this going. They were down and
SoundShapers was born.
Above: A typically stunning selection of screens from Daftbomb's levels.
Every week until the end of the year we'll be showcasing a new creator from the community – digging into their motivations, insights, inspirations, and techniques.
If you've been looking for some new levels to play check out these creators and keep in mind you can follow these people in-game and see what they're digging (chances are if they like a level it's pretty good.) Oh, and if there's someone you think we should profile let us know!
Thanks so much for working with us to share these artist's awesome work.
